AMA-ZONA is an evocation of the anthropophagic movement, also known as anthropophagia, a Brazilian artistic movement, that originated in modernism, with expression in the late 1920s. Based on the Anthropophagic Manifesto by the poet Oswald de Andrade, this movement tried to rethink Brazil's cultural dependence, advocating not the rejection of foreign (European) cultures, but their appropriation, assimilation and even imitation.
