“FLEAU” Agnès Geoffray

Whips that strike and snap, that fall to the ground, that cut the air, that twirl and dance. Four performers transform that transcend time through the hypnotic sound of the whips. Agnès Geoffray transforms the intrinsic violence of this instrument of power in a dance rhythm with beats reminiscent of a trance. Fleau is inspired in Swiss pagan rituals to drive out demons and the winter, or to invoke good spirits (a 16th-century tradition) calling to the collective imagination and several iconographic records.
