Where do the giant moles (Maulwürfe) go when they leave their burrows?
What do they think about when they arrive in the city?
These mammals leave their cosy caves to wander around the city in broad daylight.
These places belong to them. After completing a BA degree in Fine Arts and working for 10 years as a theatre director and exhibition designer, Philippe Quesne founded Vivarium Studio in 2003, establishing a working group comprised by actors, visual artists and musicians. Quesne began his work by developing a contemporary dramaturgy founded on scenic devices based on working studios (Vivarium spaces) to study human microcosms and transform them into material for his performances.
The collective of giant moles Maulwürfe began with the play ‘La Nuit des Taupes / Welcome to Caveland’ in 2016. Periodically, ‘Les Taupes’ rise from the earth all over the world for concerts, performances, parades in cities or forests and DJ sets.
