808 State was founded in Manchester in 1987, and since then have been releasing a steady stream of music for dancefloors and the rave scene. Today they are considered to be pioneers of acid house. Initially formed by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson, the band revolutionised an entire genre of music, with their first album, Newbuild (1988) considered to be a milestone in British electronica and a reference for musicians such as Aphex Twin and Autechre. For this performance they are accompanied by the visual artist Michael England, known for his work with record labels and veteran musicians from the electronic scene.
