STRONG-BORN is the literal translation of the name Iphigenia. Greek choreographer Kat Valástur was inspired by Euripides' play Iphigenia in Aulis and the story of sacrifice at its core. Three women perform a dance with movements determined by sound-creating elements attached to their bodies and the resonating sonic interplay with a circular wooden platform in the centre of the stage. From their interaction with percussionist Valentina Magaletti, this seemingly sacrificial ritual dance reveals a feminine performative and sonic force, gradually developing through sound, music, and rhythm.
