Presented as the first instalment of the cycle of exhibitions dedicated to Manoel de Oliveira and Portuguese Cinema, the exhibition aims to showcase works from the director's archive, built up over more than 80 years of work and deposited in its entirety in Serralves, revealing an extraordinary legacy that will help clarify his personality as filmmaker and artist, his working methods and the evolution of his position in relation towards the cinema and especially towards Portuguese cinema.

The goal is to provide an intimate insight into the director's creative processes, reassessing his doubts and convictions, the persistence and reversals of a career that established him as one of the most irreverently inventive artists of the last hundred years.
